Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account or using CopyCall (copycall.org), CallWatch (callwatch.org), or any other application sharing the same account system (together, "the Services"), you agree to these Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Services. One account works across every app on the platform, so these Terms apply the same way no matter which app you're actually using. The Services are operated by Kameron Gasso ("we," "us," "our").

2. What the Services are

2a. CopyCall is a contact-logging and coverage-mapping tool for simplex radio operators (Amateur, GMRS, MURS, FRS, CB, and similar services). It helps you log contacts, track known stations, and visualize your reach on a map. CopyCall is currently invite-only, in active development, and features, availability, and this beta status may change without notice.

2b. CallWatch is a search tool over FCC Universal Licensing System records (Amateur and GMRS), letting you save a search as a subscription and get emailed when a newly-issued license matches it. 3. Accounts

  • You need an account (created directly or via an invite code) to use most of the Services. One account is good for every app on the platform you've been granted access to — you don't create a separate account per app.
  • You're responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account, on any app. Tell us immediately at kameron@copycall.org if you suspect unauthorized access.
  • You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide when registering.
  • The Services do not currently require a minimum age to register — there's no age field in the sign-up flow. (See the Privacy Policy's children's privacy section for how this is handled on the data side.)

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Services lawfully and not to:

  • Use the Services to harass, stalk, or invade the privacy of any person — including a third party whose callsign or location you log or search for. If you wouldn't want the same information logged about you without a good reason, don't log it about someone else.
  • Attempt to access another user's account or data, or to circumvent any security or access control in the Services.
  • Scrape, bulk-extract, or abuse the FCC lookup, search, or geocoding features beyond normal, individual use of the Services.
  • Upload or enter unlawful content, or use the Services in any way that violates applicable law (including FCC regulations governing your own radio operation — the Services log or help you research activity, they don't authorize or excuse anything about how you actually operate).
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Services, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to their systems.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section — across every app, since it's one account.

5. Not for emergency use

The Services are logging, mapping, and search/alert tools. None of them are an emergency communications system, none are monitored in real time, and none have guaranteed uptime. If you use radio for EMCOMM, disaster response, or similar purposes, the Services are meant to help you record and review activity or learn about newly-issued licenses — they are not a substitute for your organization's actual communication protocols, and you should never rely on their availability during an actual emergency. This applies as much to CallWatch's match-alert emails (which run on a periodic schedule, not real-time) as to CopyCall's logging. We are not responsible for any harm arising from reliance on a Service being available or accurate at any particular moment, especially during exactly the kind of event (a regional disaster, power/network outage, etc.) when both the Services and their hosting infrastructure are most likely to be affected.

6. Third-party and government data

The Services display FCC Universal Licensing System data as a courtesy, sourced from the FCC's own public bulk data files (CopyCall imports it; CallWatch reads the same imported copy). We do not guarantee this data is current, complete, or accurate — always verify against the FCC's own ULS directly for anything that matters. The same goes for geocoding results and map tiles from third-party services (§11 of the Privacy Policy) — we don't control their accuracy or availability.

7. Your content

You retain ownership of the data you enter into the Services — CopyCall contacts, stations, and operators, or CallWatch saved searches. By entering it, you grant us a license to store, process, and display it as necessary to operate the Services for you — including, if you turn on CopyCall's map sharing, displaying the specific fields described in the Privacy Policy to anyone you share that link with. You're solely responsible for the content you enter, including having any rights or permissions needed to log information about someone else.

8. Fees

The Services are currently free to use. While we do not plan to charge, we reserve the right to introduce paid plans or features in the future. If we do, we'll give you advance notice before anything you're currently using starts requiring payment.

9. Intellectual property

The CopyCall and CallWatch names, software, and design (apart from your own content and apart from third-party data like FCC records or OpenStreetMap tiles, which belong to their respective sources) belong to Kameron Gasso. You may not copy, reverse-engineer, or redistribute the Services themselves without permission.

10. Copyright complaints (DMCA)

We respect intellectual property rights and will respond to well-formed notices of alleged copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. If you believe content on any of the Services infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent at kameron@copycall.org that includes:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or someone authorized to act on their behalf.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed.
  3. Identification of the material claimed to be infringing, and information reasonably sufficient to let us locate it.
  4. Your contact information — address, telephone number, and email.
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the above is accurate and that you're authorized to act on the copyright owner's behalf.

We'll remove or disable access to material we determine, in good faith, infringes someone's copyright, and will make a reasonable effort to notify the user who submitted it. A user who believes their content was removed in error may send a counter-notice; we'll follow the DMCA's standard counter-notice process (including the required waiting period) before deciding whether to restore it.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Services at any time; email kameron@copycall.org to request account deletion (see Privacy Policy §7) — since it's one account, this removes your access and data across every app on the platform, not just whichever one you happened to email us about. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, or discontinue a Service entirely, though we'll try to give reasonable notice if we ever wind one down.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT ANY SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT ANY DATA (INCLUDING THIRD-PARTY FCC OR GEOCODING DATA) WILL BE ACCURATE OR CURRENT.

13. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, KAMERON GASSO WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) ANY SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. BECAUSE THE SERVICES ARE CURRENTLY FREE, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THE SERVICES IS LIMITED TO $0 (OR, IF YOU HAVE PAID US ANYTHING, THE AMOUNT YOU PAID IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM). Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Kameron Gasso harmless from any claim arising from your misuse of the Services, your violation of these Terms, or content you submit — including a claim brought by a third party whose information you logged or searched for.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

16. Disputes / venue

Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Oregon, and you consent to jurisdiction there.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the Services change. Material changes will be noted on this page and in each app's own in-app changelog. Continuing to use any Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
