Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account or using CopyCall (copycall.org, "the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service. The Service is operated by Kameron Gasso ("we," "us," "our").

2. What CopyCall is

CopyCall is a contact-logging and coverage-mapping tool for simplex radio operators (Amateur, GMRS, MURS, FRS, CB, and similar services). It helps you log contacts, track known stations, and visualize your reach on a map. CopyCall is currently invite-only, in active development, and features, availability, and this beta status may change without notice.

3. Accounts

  • You need an account (created directly or via an invite code) to use most of the Service.
  • You're responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account. Tell us immediately at kameron@copycall.org if you suspect unauthorized access.
  • You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide when registering.
  • CopyCall does not currently require a minimum age to register — there's no age field in the sign-up flow. (See the Privacy Policy's children's privacy section for how this is handled on the data side.)

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use CopyCall lawfully and not to:

  • Use the Service to harass, stalk, or invade the privacy of any person — including a third party whose callsign or location you log. If you wouldn't want the same information logged about you without a good reason, don't log it about someone else.
  • Attempt to access another user's account or data, or to circumvent any security or access control in the Service.
  • Scrape, bulk-extract, or abuse the FCC lookup or geocoding features beyond normal, individual use of the Service.
  • Upload or enter unlawful content, or use the Service in any way that violates applicable law (including FCC regulations governing your own radio operation — CopyCall logs your activity, it doesn't authorize or excuse anything about how you actually operate).
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to its systems.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.

5. Not for emergency use

CopyCall is a logging and mapping tool. It is not an emergency communications system, is not monitored in real time, and has no guaranteed uptime. If you use radio for EMCOMM, disaster response, or similar purposes, CopyCall is meant to help you record and review that activity — it is not a substitute for your organization's actual communication protocols, and you should never rely on CopyCall's availability during an actual emergency. We are not responsible for any harm arising from reliance on the Service being available or accurate at any particular moment, especially during exactly the kind of event (a regional disaster, power/network outage, etc.) when both the Service and its hosting infrastructure are most likely to be affected.

6. Third-party and government data

CopyCall displays FCC Universal Licensing System data as a courtesy, sourced from the FCC's own public bulk data files. We do not guarantee this data is current, complete, or accurate — always verify against the FCC's own ULS directly for anything that matters. The same goes for geocoding results and map tiles from third-party services (§11 of the Privacy Policy) — we don't control their accuracy or availability.

7. Your content

You retain ownership of the data you enter into CopyCall. By entering it, you grant us a license to store, process, and display it as necessary to operate the Service for you — including, if you turn on map sharing, displaying the specific fields described in the Privacy Policy to anyone you share that link with. You're solely responsible for the content you enter, including having any rights or permissions needed to log information about someone else.

8. Fees

CopyCall is currently free to use. While we do not plan to charge, we reserve the right to introduce paid plans or features in the future. If we do, we'll give you advance notice before anything you're currently using starts requiring payment.

9. Intellectual property

The CopyCall name, software, and design (apart from your own content and apart from third-party data like FCC records or OpenStreetMap tiles, which belong to their respective sources) belong to Kameron Gasso. You may not copy, reverse-engineer, or redistribute the Service itself without permission.

10. Copyright complaints (DMCA)

We respect intellectual property rights and will respond to well-formed notices of alleged copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. If you believe content on CopyCall infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent at kameron@copycall.org that includes:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or someone authorized to act on their behalf.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed.
  3. Identification of the material claimed to be infringing, and information reasonably sufficient to let us locate it.
  4. Your contact information — address, telephone number, and email.
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the above is accurate and that you're authorized to act on the copyright owner's behalf.

We'll remove or disable access to material we determine, in good faith, infringes someone's copyright, and will make a reasonable effort to notify the user who submitted it. A user who believes their content was removed in error may send a counter-notice; we'll follow the DMCA's standard counter-notice process (including the required waiting period) before deciding whether to restore it.

11. Termination

You may stop using CopyCall at any time; email kameron@copycall.org to request account deletion (see Privacy Policy §7). We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, or discontinue the Service entirely, though we'll try to give reasonable notice if we ever wind it down.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT ANY DATA (INCLUDING THIRD-PARTY FCC OR GEOCODING DATA) WILL BE ACCURATE OR CURRENT.

13. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, KAMERON GASSO WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. BECAUSE COPYCALL IS CURRENTLY FREE, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO $0 (OR, IF YOU HAVE PAID US ANYTHING, THE AMOUNT YOU PAID IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM). Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Kameron Gasso harmless from any claim arising from your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or content you submit — including a claim brought by a third party whose information you logged.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

16. Disputes / venue

Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Oregon, and you consent to jurisdiction there.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the Service changes. Material changes will be noted on this page and in the in-app changelog. Continuing to use CopyCall after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
